Banking Finance

Banking Finance

At its inception some years ago, the banking and finance world was limited to executives who have attained a certain level of education deemed advanced. Meanwhile, other tasks in the banking and financial world were mostly in the hands of untrained and unskilled workers. This ensured that such institutions were either running at the loss or were unable to maximize returns coupled with poor treatment of files.

With a dynamic world and growing competition, there was a need for skilled workers in the banking and financial world at all levels. The programme was therefore structured to fill this vacuum so that banks and financial institutions recruit trained and qualified staffs at all level.

Some of the courses taught include Mathematics, banking techniques, organizational behavior, financial markets, communication etc.

The programme runs for one year and open to holders of at least the GCE Ordinary Level. Degree holders are also admitted as it reinforces the capacity for those already working and boost the curriculum vitae of job seekers.

It is sanctioned at the end by the award of a Diploma in Banking and Finance recognized by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates from this programme are mostly employed by banking and financial institutions. They can also be employed by microfinance institutions, money transfer agencies as well. They can also work in the finance department of NGOs, companies and public and private institutions.
