From the days of trade-by-barter, exchange has taking a more complex trend with people sealing contracts within and without the national territory. Contracts of services have also been developed as business has moved from the mere exchange of goods to the service world.

Business Law is a specialization in legal practice that focuses on business transactions, economic exchange and contracts, commercial contracts between individuals and individuals, companies, state institutions, national and multinational bodies etc. The programme seeks to train skilled workers who assist managers, business men and women, commercial agents, companies, governments and institutions in the commercial exchanges. Course mostly bother on commercial law, contract law, fundamental laws, administration and governance, commercial litigations, organizational behavior, national and international trade etc.

Studies and Duration

The programme runs for two academic years and opened to holders of the GCE Advanced Level in at least two subjects excluding Religious Knowledge or its equivalent. Studies are both theoretical and practical coupled with a supervised internship. At the end each student prepares and defends a project which culminates with a national exam as requirements for the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Business Law by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates can open their own legal consultancy firm or work with commercial companies as well as governmental departments as these institutions are constantly concluding business and commercial contracts.
