Computer Maintenance

Computer Maintenance

The world has moved from manual to digital largely supported by computers. Computers have become the birth place of documents unlike type writers in the past. This mass mutation has also ensured that those who keep these computers updated and in good state fit for the task are also trained to provide services.

Just like there are automobile mechanics, computer maintenance is a field which trains “doctors” who treat the computers whenever they are sick. Studies revolve around hardware and systems technology, network systems technology, data management, mathematics and business.

The programme runs for one year and culminates with the award of a Diploma in Computer Maintenance recognized by the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training. It is opened to holders of at least the GCE Ordinary Level or its equivalent. However, holders of higher certificates can also apply.

Employment Opportunities

Computer maintenance is one of the most solicited jobs in the world. Wherever there is a computer a repairs agent is needed from time-to-time or on a permanent basis. Graduates can open their own firm wherein they provide repair services to members of the public, offices, institutions, schools, organisations etc. They can also be employed in computer and electronic sales and service providers.
