Education Management and Administration

Education is more than just the transmission of knowledge from generation to generation, but also includes planning, management and administration of both personnel and students/pupils. This programme seeks to answer the problematic in a dynamic world full of complex realities. In most private and mission educational institutions and in some governmental institutions, most Teachers are not yet equipped with basic administrative and managerial skills which makes the programme incumbent for today’s realities.

Studies and Duration

It runs for two academic years and opened to holders of the GCE Advanced Level in at least two subjects excluding Religious Knowledge or its equivalent or the Teachers’ Grade One certificate. It is a full theory and practical package coupled with a supervised internship in a recognized institution. At the end of studies each student defends a project and takes the mandatory national exams as requirements for the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Education Management and Administration by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Employment Opportunities

Job openings for graduates are mostly in academic institutions both at the basic and secondary levels. Within the context of private and confessional schools, most graduates are employed in such circumstances. Teachers already in the field are also admitted into the programme to upgrade their knowledge and possible reclassification.
