Tourism and Travel Agency Management
One of the major fallouts of globalization is the development of transport infrastructures and the growth of the general transport sector with a corresponding increase in tourism. Transport and Tourism both complement each other and it is difficult to have one without the other. This mass movement has necessitated the development of an academic domain which provides professional services to consumers in any part of the world. The programme is geared at studying the general organization of the transport sector, development and management of touristic services and agencies as well as management and marketing of a touristic destination, organization of tourism agencies and trips etc.
Structure of studies and duration
The programme runs for two semesters of an academic year and opened to holders of the Higher National Diploma (HND) in Tourism and Travel Agency Management or its equivalent from a recognized institution. The programme is designed to include course work and practical sessions including field trips. Each student further defends an end of course project as requirements for the award of a Professional Bachelor Degree in Tourism and Travel Agency Management supervised and delivered by the government mentoring institution, the University of Bamenda and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates can serve as Tourist guide, work in interurban and intra-urban transport agencies, travel agencies, airline companies with competences to manage flight movements of persons and goods, airports, seaports, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Transport and they can also set up their own tourism firm or travel agency.
