Custom and Transit
It is a broad field that is opened to both land and water transport. It involves checking and control of goods and persons crossing the international borders and in some cases within the national territory. Moreover, transit agents have also become a part of companies and institutions dealing with goods management as they oversee the administrative management of these goods and ensure a corresponding documentation and means of transport.
In the past the field was reserved to government trained custom personnel. However, with a growing private sector and as a consequence of globalization, the field is being expanded to non-state agents.
The programmed runs for two years and opened to holders of the GCE Advanced Level in at least two subjects excluding Religious Knowledge or its equivalent. It is both theory and practical with a mandatory supervised internship at an officially recognized institution. At the end of studies, each student prepares and defends publicly a project and also takes the national exam as requirements for the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Custom and Transit by the Ministry of Higher Education.
