Financial Management
Financial management is one of the most important sectors of any business entity or organization even non-profit making institutions. Moreover, controlling the finances of any institution is one of the most strategic jobs requiring excellent knowledge in techniques of effective management because finances are the core of every organization including faith based organisations.
Structure of studies and duration
The programme seeks to train senior finance managers of companies, profit and non-profit making organisations. It is concerned with planning, investments, analysis and risk management of finances involved in any project. The focus of the programme is project management, principles of management, communication, financial management, banking and finance, insurance, accounting, security analysis etc. It is strongly advisable for people with some years of experience in the field. However, applicants must hold a Bachelor degree in Finances, Project Management, Accounting, Banking and Finance or any related social science field or its equivalent from a recognized institution. The programme is purely professional and involves theory and practice. Students also undertake supervised internship and defend an end of course thesis as requirements for the award of a Master of Business Administration (Professional Master’s Degree) in Financial Management by the University of Bamenda and recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates can be employed as financial controllers of companies, schools, profit and non-profit making organisations, diplomatic missions. They can serve as Credit Managers, Directors of Administration and Finance, Bank Managers, Senior Financial Analysts, Treasurers and Finance Officers, Accountants, Financial Engineer etc. They can also create their own firm or start their own business or create a consultancy.
