Pharmacy Technology

The medical chain of studies involved those who work on the drugs and ascertain their quality and gives directives to patients who come for drugs. This branch of study is called Pharmacy and basically involves the study of drug; preparing, preserving, compounding and dispersing medical drugs. Courses under this domain go beyond Pharmacognosy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mathematics, Business management etc.

Studies and Duration

The programme runs for three years and involves both theory and practical sessions. JIMIT also has a modern laboratory for practical session. At the end of studies each student prepares and defends a project and takes the national exams as requirements for the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Pharmacy delivered by the Ministry of Higher Education with the supervision of the Ministry of Public Health.

Employment Opportunities

Graduates can work in a pharmacy, a hospital pharmacy, drug production centres, operate as a wholesale chemist. They can also work as a pharmaco-epidemiologist in the public health sector.
