Quality Management
Quality Management is a service provider that assures the consistency of a product or service in an industry. It oversees all activities and ensures that they are accomplished with a desired level of quality and excellence. The work of a quality manager or controller includes determining quality policy to be pursued by a company, creating and implementing quality planning and assurance. The job has been necessitated by the growing industrialization in the world and Africa in particular where for the sake of good service and competition companies have to maintain a quality standard and consistency.
Studies and Duration
The programme runs for two academic years and opened to holders of the GCE Advanced Level in at least two subjects excluding Religious Knowledge or its equivalent. It involves courses in project management, auditing, resource management, risk management, control mechanism etc. Students undertake theory and practical sessions coupled with a supervised internship. At the end of studies each student defends a project and takes the national exams as requirements for the award of a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Quality Management by the Ministry of Higher Education.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates can find openings in most companies dealing with goods and services especially as more and more companies are setting up departments for quality control and management. They can also work with governmental agencies like National Agency for Quality Control.
